It’s cool to go your own way. But it can feel uncomfortable to be on your own. Ally Watson has always identified as an outsider; embracing her differences allowed her to shine. As a victim of childhood bullying, Ally has always been tough as nails when it comes to embracing her unique sense of self. Luckily, after a pivot into software engineering, Ally felt as though she was finally beginning to find her passion in life. But there was just one problem: she was the only girl on the block.
The world of tech can be a lonely valley for a woman, and yet another environment where Ally was forced to ride it solo. But this time, she was determined to not simply endure it, but to make the change.
Combining her verve for creativity and technology Code Like a Girl was born, a social enterprise dedicated to providing girls with the tools, knowledge and support to enter and flourish in the world of coding. Since its inception, Ally has continued to inspire new generations of girls to acquire coding as a skill and step into more leadership roles within the industry. Glass ceiling vibes live here.
