Ep 171 - The Founder of Social Works On How Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number
Believe it or not, back in 2014, Instagram was almost an entirely different platform than what it is today. Before the selfies and #sponcon, it was originally a photo sharing app to connect with friends and family. Today’s guest, however, was one of the first pioneers of the influencer marketing that’s come to define Instagram in recent years.
In this episode of Peers2Peers, powered by Shopify, we sit down with Nina Shini Andersen, the CEO and Founder of leading Copenhagen-based influencer marketing agency, Social Works.
Nina shares how she saw an opportunity during the app’s infancy to turn posting into payment, why age is just a number and how to hone those managerial skills when you’re used to being a solo entrepreneur.
Nina Shini Andersen:
Have you ever felt you were too young to be taken seriously?
Perhaps too old to give it another shot?
Us too. Age is a funny one when it comes to our self worth and the limits we put on ourselves but for today’s guest, it wasn’t a hindrance at all.
In 2014, 22 year-old Nina Shini Andersen saw an opportunity. Instagram had been around for a couple of years but when she began to use it as a platform to market and sell products, Nina realised she could make a business out of it. Fast forward to 2021 and Nina’s Copenhagen-based influencer marketing agency, Social Works, has worked with clients including, Louis Vuitton, Audi, Dior and many more.
In today’s episode of Peers2Peers, powered by Shopify, Nina shares why age is just a number, how she went from running an agency to leading a team of 15 and why you have to be in love with your business to make it work.
