Niara Valério is an ed-tech entrepreneur and Co-founder of Learnabi, an online platform that brings personalised learning to high-risk students in underserved areas of the U.S. In two years, Learnabi has earned over six figures in sales and led Niara to be recognised on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

It all came together in the end, but only because it fell apart. With wisdom and frankness, Niara shares her early financial and mental hardships, understanding the ‘why’ behind our commitment and the cracks in the US school system.

Niara Valério

When Niara Valério graduated from college, she found herself couch surfing at night and teaching kids from the Bronx during the day. As a tutor to some of the most disadvantaged children in the country, Niara expected her employer would be helping these children. Instead, she found herself in a system that treated kids like empty space. The job was rudimentary and simple: get in, read the material, leave.

Niara rarely left work feeling relieved. Instead she felt guilty. With a crowded school system and tech-ed resources favouring higher achieving students rather than struggling one, more and more children are falling through the gaps. And that’s where the story of Learnabi begins.

With her business partner, Niara founded Learnabi – an online platform that brings personalised learning to high-risk students in underserved areas of the U.S. In two years, the company has earned over six figures in sales, with no sight of slowing down.In this empowering conversation, Niara shares the importance of detaching ourselves from titles, the process of knowing when, how and who to hire, and how to stay committed when everything seems to be falling apart.
